🧠💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month! 💚🧠
Our 10th graders are stepping up in a big way by participating in Teen Mental Health First Aid training! This powerful program teaches students how to recognize the signs of mental health challenges in themselves and others as well as how to get help from a trusted adult.
We’re so proud of our students for taking this important step toward becoming informed, compassionate peers. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #Teen #MentalHealthMatters #PeerSupport #HealthyMindsHealthyHearts #JM #Fredericksburg #Students #training

Future scientists in action! We’re still buzzing from the last Governor’s School lab day, and our students crushed it! Anna Kurylo dove into a Chemistry Lab, experimenting with chemical reactions, calculating enthalpy, analyzing vapor pressure, and figuring out pH like a pro! Meanwhile, Emmett Hart, Leah Lewis, Genesis Ortega-Cuevas, and Alivia Teri went full on future med pros in the Human Anatomy Lab—dissecting sheep hearts, fetal pigs, and even observing a human cadaver. Last month, we had some incredible visitors from Mountain View High School who spent the afternoon exploring our tree plantings, outdoor classroom, and pollinator garden These students weren’t just here to learn, they helped create these spaces through volunteer tree planting, mulching, and garden projects! It was an inspiring day of sharing how we use these outdoor spaces for instruction and how they help make the world a better place.
Special thanks to community supporters Leslie Leahy, Anne Little, Lauren Terrill, Lyman Hine, and Sarah Dishman for joining us, you help bring these green dreams to life! With Fredericksburg Earth Day celebration tomorrow, we’re reminded that real change starts right in our own backyard 🌎💚

Last Friday, our Class of 2025 continued a proud JM tradition, the Ceili Leahy Senior Day of Service! Inspired by Ceili’s legacy of activism, generosity, and deep love for community, our seniors dedicated their time and energy to giving back.
Ceili was a writer, a humanitarian, and a passionate advocate for justice, a true force for good in the world. Whether leading human rights protests, volunteering at Children’s National Hospital, or simply spreading kindness, she believed in living life vividly and inspiring others to do the same. Even in the face of cancer, she remained unwavering in her commitment to service and community.
Since 2016, the Ceili Leahy Service Project (CLSP) has sparked a spirit of volunteerism at JM, encouraging students to make a difference. A heartfelt thank you to our students, staff, and community partners for making this year’s event a success!
Ceili remains our guiding light, reminding us why service matters. Her words continue to inspire: "As terrible as cancer is, it really opened my eyes to the goodness in people. It was just the most beautiful thing to see what people can do for each other when they’re inspired." – Ceili Leahy, JM Class of 2014
